Ingredients

packed brown sugar

half & half

butter

salt

vanilla extract
Instructions
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine half & half, brown sugar, butter, and salt. Stir continuously.
Cook for 7-9 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Turn off the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Let the caramel cool slightly before using.
Notes
to thicken the sauce add 1-2 tablespoons cornstarch
