Ingredients

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup half & half
  • ½ cup butter
  • teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine half & half, brown sugar, butter, and salt. Stir continuously.
  • Cook for 7-9 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Turn off the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Let the caramel cool slightly before using.

Notes

to thicken the sauce add 1-2 tablespoons cornstarch
