Elderberry Pancake Syrup Recipe

In no time at all, make this healthy syrup at home!  Simply throw all the ingredients in the crockpot. You get a super immune boosting syrup that will help fight colds and flu.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup organic dried elderberries
  • 2 ¼ cups filtered water
  • 4 slices fresh ginger peeled and sliced into ⅛ inch thick
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup raw honey

Instructions

Cook the Elderberries

  • Add the dried elderberries, filtered water, fresh ginger, and cinnamon to a slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.

Strain the Syrup

  • Carefully strain the cooked mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a medium bowl.
  • Discard the strained elderberries, ginger, and other solids.

Add the Honey

  • Allow the strained liquid to cool until it is only slightly warm.
  • Add the raw honey and stir until completely combined.

Store

  • Pour the finished elderberry syrup into a clean glass jar.
  • Cover tightly and refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.
