Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Make the Chocolate Chip Batter:
In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and brown sugar. Mix until smooth.
Add the vanilla extract and egg, and mix again until combined.
Stir in the flour and salt until a thick dough forms.
Fold in the chocolate chips and set the batter aside.
Make the Brownie Batter:
In a smaller bowl, mix together the melted butter and sugar until combined.
Add the egg and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
Add the cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and flour. Mix until the batter thickens.
Stir in the vegetable oil and water to thin out the brownie batter slightly, ensuring there are no lumps.
Assemble the Skillet:
Take a cast iron skillet and drop large spoonfuls of the chocolate chip batter around the bottom.
Fill the spaces between the chocolate chip batter with the brownie batter. Alternate between both batters until the skillet is filled.
Bake:
Bake in the oven for 17–20 minutes, or until the chocolate chip batter is golden brown. Be careful not to overbake, as the brownie batter may become tough.
Serve:
Let the skillet cool for a few minutes.
Top with vanilla ice cream and extra chocolate chips.
