Shortbread Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • cups All-purpose flour

Instructions

Make the Dough:

  • Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Line an ungreased cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Roll and Shape:

  • Lightly flour your work surface. Roll out the dough to your desired thickness (about ¼ inch is typical).
  • Cut into shapes using a cookie cutter or slice into squares or rectangles.
  • Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing slightly apart. Using a fork, gently prick the tops of each cookie to help them bake evenly.

Bake:

  • Bake for 25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let the cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Dip in chocolate if you want, and enjoy!
