Why You'll Love This Recipe
Lumpia in a Bowl has all the flavors of traditional lumpia spring rolls. It includes sautéed vegetables, garlic, soy sauce, and savory seasonings, but it skips the wrapper and frying.
This version is lighter and easier, and it still tastes just as comforting. The unique ingredient here is tofu. It replaces meat and adds plant-based protein. It also gives a soft, chewy texture, and soaks up all the sauce.
This lumpia dish uses flavorful ingredients like garlic powder, ginger, and vegetable broth, which bring depth and warmth to every bite.
Where Lumpia in a Bowl Comes From
Lumpia comes from Chinese cooking. It became popular in the Philippines through trade and cultural exchange. The original lumpia was rolled in wrappers and deep-fried. Fillings often included meat, celery, or bean sprouts.
Lumpia in a Bowl is a modern twist. It likely started in vegan or Filipino-American kitchens. People wanted the flavor of lumpia without the work. It’s now a popular shortcut that keeps the taste but skips the grease.
When is this Dish Typically Enjoyed?
You can enjoy lumpia in a bowl any time of the year. It’s great for quick lunches or easy dinners. Traditional lumpia is common at holidays and birthdays, but this bowl version is for everyday comfort. It’s also great for leftovers. Just reheat and enjoy with rice, noodles, or greens!

Caramelize the onions! It adds sweetness that balances the savory sauces and vegetables. Stir often to avoid burning. - Storage Tips
- This dish stores well. Keep the tofu and veggies in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze it for up to 1 month.
