    What is Dalgona Coffee?

Dalgona coffee is a whipped, frothy iced coffee drink made with milk, ice, instant coffee, and sugar. Also known as "whipped coffee" or "frothy coffee", dalgona coffee has two distinct layers made from whipped coffee cream sitting on top of iced milk. It almost tastes like a Frappuccino you would order at Starbucks- but better!

In this recipe, we're replacing the whipped coffee with strawberry whipped cream.

    Substitutions

    • Fruit Variations: Instead of fresh strawberries, you can use a tablespoon of strawberry Nesquik or strawberry syrup for a quicker option.
    • Dairy-Free Option: Use unsweetened almond milk instead of regular milk for a dairy-free version.
    • Sweetener Alternatives: Replace the sugar with your favorite sweetener to make it low-carb or keto-friendly.

    Variations

    • Chocolate Twist: Add a drizzle of chocolate syrup or Nutella for a chocolate-strawberry combination.
    • Hot Drink Version: Use hot milk instead of cold milk for a warm and comforting drink, perfect for cold days.

    Storage

If you have any leftover whipped strawberry mixture, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Give it a quick stir before using it again.

    Top Tips

    • If you want a sweeter drink, add more sugar.
    • For best results, chill the whisk and mixing bowl in the freezer for 15 minutes.
    • The heavy cream has to be cold, not at room temperature.
    • Please use heavy cream and not a lighter version.

    Ingredients

Listed below are all the ingredients you will need:

    • fresh strawberries
    • heavy whipping cream
    • sugar
    • milk
    • ice cubes
    ingredients for whipped strawberry milk

    Instructions

In a blender, add the strawberries and blend until smooth, then set aside.

In a medium bowl, add heavy cream and beat using a hand mixer on medium speed while slowly adding the sugar. Beat until stiff peaks form, about 3-4 minutes:

Next, add 3 tablespoons of the strawberry puree and beat for 1 more minute or until the strawberry puree is fully incorporated. Be careful not to over beat:

Pour ice and milk into a cup and top with the whipped strawberry mixture and serve immediately!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use evaporated milk for whipped cream?

It's best to use whipped cream because the consistencies are very different.

Can I use frozen strawberries instead of fresh ones?

Yes, you can use frozen strawberries. Thaw them before blending to ensure a smooth puree.

    What if I don't have a blender?

If you don't have a blender, you can mash the strawberries with a fork or potato masher. The texture will be less smooth, but it will still taste delicious.
