    Substitutions

    • Flour: You can use wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour to add a slightly different texture and flavor to your vegan deli meat.
    • Flavor: Feel free to add onion powder or nutritional yeast for an extra burst of flavor.
    • Tofu: If you can't find super firm tofu, use extra firm tofu but make sure to press it well to remove excess water.

    Variations

    • Seasonings: Incorporate other spices like black pepper, paprika or vegetable bouillon cubes to enhance the flavor.
    • Shape and slicing: Form the tofu mixture into a log shape using tin foil to create circular vegan deli slices. Use a sharp knife or deli slicer to thinly slice the vegan tofu before serving.

    Storage

    • Place the tofu deli meat into an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 weeks. This helps maintain its flavor and texture.
    • You can also freeze the tofu deli slices. Lay them flat on a baking sheet or parchment paper, freeze, and then transfer to a sealed container. They can be stored for up to a month.

    Top Tips

    • Use a sharp knife or deli slicer to get thin, even slices of your tofu deli meat. This makes it perfect for sandwiches and wraps.
    • Feel free to tweak the ingredients and make it your own vegan lunch meat. Try adding a bit of seitan or chickpea flour for a different texture.
