What is Candy Corn Mousse?
Candy Corn Mousse is a fun and colorful dessert that’s perfect for fall. It combines creamy ingredients like softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla with whipped topping (Cool Whip) to create a light and fluffy treat. The mousse is made by mixing these ingredients and then splitting the mixture into three bowls.
Two of the bowls are colored bright orange and yellow to resemble candy corn, a popular Halloween candy. After layering the colors in cups, the dessert is chilled for a little while to set. Finally, it’s topped with candy corn for a festive touch.
This no-bake dessert is not only easy to make in just 30 minutes, but it also looks great and tastes delicious, making it a perfect addition to any fall celebration!
Substitutions
- Cream Cheese: Swap cream cheese with Neufchâtel, mascarpone, or dairy-free cream cheese for a lighter or vegan option.
- Powdered Sugar: Use granulated sugar blended into powder, maple syrup, or a sugar-free sweetener like erythritol for a healthier alternative.
- Milk: Replace milk with almond, oat, soy, or heavy cream for dairy-free or richer options.
- Vanilla Extract: Substitute with almond extract, maple extract, or vanilla bean paste for a flavor variation.
- Cool Whip: Try homemade whipped cream, coconut whipped cream, or a vegan store-bought whipped topping.
- Food Coloring: Use turmeric for yellow, beet juice for orange, or omit for an all-white mousse.
- Candy Corn Garnish: Replace candy corn with mini marshmallows, white chocolate chips, sprinkles, or fresh fruit slices.
Variations
- Chocolate Twist: Add cocoa powder to one layer for a chocolatey surprise.
- Fruit-Flavored Layers: Mix in a few drops of fruit extract (like orange or lemon) to complement the colors.
- Vegan Version: Use dairy-free cream cheese, coconut whipped cream, and plant-based milk.
Storage
- Store leftover mousse in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For longer storage, freeze it in individual portions and thaw in the fridge before serving. Keep in mind that freezing may slightly alter the texture.
Ingredients
- cream cheese
- powdered sugar
- milk
- vanilla extract
- cool whip
- orange food coloring
- yellow food coloring
- candy corn (for garnish)
Instructions
In a bowl beat the cream cheese, add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, and mix.
Fold in the cool whip and do not over-mix because it will become runny. If it does just place the bowl in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.

Split the cream cheese mixture into three bowls and color one bowl orange and the other yellow. If you don't have orange food coloring mix the orange and red food coloring together.

Serve in clear glasses or jars to showcase the beautiful layers. To garnish, add candy corn.

Top Tips
- Use a piping bag for clean, even layers.

I honestly do not like candy corn. But when I first made this, I was thrilled with the results! Even though the mousse had the colors of candy corn, it did not taste like it. It actually reminded me of pudding!
