    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This apple roses recipe is beginner-friendly and made with just a few pantry staples. It looks fancy, but anyone can do it even without baking experience!

It’s naturally vegetarian and doesn’t require any hard-to-find ingredients. Use a mandolin to get perfect, paper-thin slices of apple every time.

Apples add fiber and antioxidants. Cinnamon brings a cozy warmth and may help regulate blood sugar levels. A drizzle of caramel sauce on top makes them even more delicious.

    Ingredients

Listed below are all the ingredients you will need:

    • Pepperidge Farms puff pastry sheets
    • Red apples
    • Lemon juice
    • Granulated sugar
    • Ground cinnamon
    • Unsalted butter
    • Powdered sugar

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

    Prepare the Apples:

    1. Slice the apples in half lengthwise and remove the cores. Use a sharp knife.

    2. Place the flat side down. Make the apple slices into half-moon shapes.

    3. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with the lemon juice.

    4. Add 1–2 teaspoons of the granulated sugar and a pinch of the cinnamon. Mix until evenly coated. Set aside.

    Prepare the Puff Pastry:

    5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the muffin tin on the lower rack of the oven. Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin pan with nonstick spray or butter.

    6. On a lightly floured surface, unfold the puff pastry sheets. Brush one side of each sheet with the melted butter.

    7. Mix the remaining granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered puff pastry.

    8. Cut each puff pastry dough into 6 even strips, making 12 strips total.

    Assemble the Apple Roses:

    9. Arrange a few apple slices along one puff pastry strip, overlapping slightly, with the rounded side of the apples sticking out from the edge.

    10. Fold the bottom half of the strip up over the apples, keeping the curved edges exposed.

    11. Starting at one end, gently roll the strip to form a rose shape.

    12. Place the rolled apple rose into a muffin cup. Repeat with the remaining strips.

    Bake and Serve:

    13. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown. Let cool in the muffin tin for 10 minutes.

    14. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a perfect finish!

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Ingredient Swap
You can swap red apples with green ones for a tart twist.
Try Granny Smith for that classic apple pie taste.
    • Variation
Use maple syrup instead of sugar, or add a bit of nutmeg for extra spice. Brush the roses with egg wash before baking for a golden finish.
    • Mistake to Avoid
Avoid slicing apples too thickly. They won’t roll well. Use a mandolin if possible.
    • Storage Tips
      • Apple Roses don’t freeze well once baked. But you can prep them ahead and freeze them while still unbaked. Make sure the puff pastry is properly thawing before assembly.
      • Cover loosely with aluminum foil during reheating to prevent burning.
      • Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat before serving. Best enjoyed within 2–3 days.
