    What is Buko Salad Drink?

Buko Salad Drink (Young Coconut Salad Drink) is a delicious combination of Filipinos' popular buko salad and buko juice recipe that is super duper easy to make. This sweet and creamy drink is mainly made of young coconut strips, nata de coco, sago, sweetened milk, and young coconut water.

It is one of the favorite refreshment options in the Philippines that can be easily made at home during parties, celebrations, or any occasion. It can be bought along the streets as a pair to Filipinos' afternoon snacks.

Give this a try and enjoy a cold coconut delight!

    Variations

    • Feel free to add more or less of the ingredients to suit your taste. You may use less or add more tapioca pearls, gulaman, and jelly cubes to this drink.
    • Give the traditional drink a fragrant, green hue by adding pandan-flavored jelly cubes and a small amount of pandan extract.
    • Add some pureed or fresh mango to give the coconut base a touch of sweetness and a tropical taste.

    Substitutions

    • You may use coconut milk instead of evaporated milk.
    • Use colored nata de coco or kaong to tint the drink if you prefer not to use food coloring.
    • If sago is not available, tapioca pearls are an excellent substitute for the typical boba experience.

    Storage

    • Refrigerate the buko salad drink in an airtight container for up to 2 days to keep it fresh.
    • Add ice cubes or extra coconut juice right before serving for the best texture and flavor.
