    Are avocados good in desserts?

When you think of avocados, you might imagine guacamole or salads. But did you know avocados can make awesome desserts too? In the Philippines, people love using avocados in sweet treats.

They turn this creamy fruit into delicious goodies like avocado ice candy and rich avocado flan. These desserts show just how versatile and tasty avocados can be. Let's dive into why avocados are so popular in Filipino desserts and how you can make them at home!

    Health Benefits of Avocado

    • Rich in nutrients.
    • Promotes gut health.
    • Reduces the risk of heart diseases.
    • Helps maintain healthy body weight.
    • Excellent source of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds.

    Top Tips

    • If using a small or medium avocado, you will need 2.
    • The avocado mixture will be very thick, feel free to add more milk to thin it out.
    • Feel free to omit the cornstarch- avocado is already creamy as it is.
    • It's important to chop the chocolate to make it easier to melt. If you don't, it can take at least 10 minutes to melt.
    • Feel free to skip dipping the popsicles into chocolate, avocado popsicles will still taste delicious without it.

    Substitutions

    • Milk: Use almond milk, coconut milk, or soy milk for a dairy-free option.
    • Condensed Milk: Replace with coconut condensed milk or a mix of maple syrup and coconut cream for a vegan alternative.
    • Cornstarch: Use arrowroot powder or omit entirely if you prefer.
    • Dark Chocolate: Swap with vegan chocolate chips or dairy-free chocolate bars for a vegan-friendly option.

    Variations

    • Fruit Swirls: Add swirls of pureed berries like strawberries or raspberries for a fruity twist.
    • Nutty Delight: Mix in crushed nuts such as almonds or pistachios for added crunch and flavor.
    • Spicy Kick: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder to the avocado mix for a spicy-sweet combination.
    • Minty Fresh: Incorporate a few drops of mint extract into the avocado mixture for a refreshing mint-chocolate version.

    Storage

    • Freezer Storage: Place the popsicles in an airtight container or wrap them individually in plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn.
    • Separate Layers: If stacking, use parchment paper between layers to avoid sticking.
    • Shelf Life: Best enjoyed within 2-3 weeks for optimal freshness and taste.

    Dipping Chocolate:
