    Ingredient Notes

See the recipe card below for ingredient quantities and complete instructions.

    • Passion Fruit – Use ripe yellow passion fruit or purple passion fruit for the best sweetness and aroma; wrinkled skin means extra flavor. Both varieties offer a rich, tropical taste known in many passion fruit puree recipes.
    • Sugar – Adjust the sweetness to your taste. Don't pour in a lot of sugar. If you prefer a more natural sweetener, try honey or agave syrup.
    • Water - little water keeps the juice crisp and clean.
    • Lime Juice – Adds a bright, tangy balance that makes the passion fruit shine.
    • Ice Cubes – Ice cube trays are your best friend here—use them to chill the juice without watering down the bold flavor too quickly.

    Storage

This passionfruit juice does not freeze well. Store it in the fridge and enjoy within 2–3 days for the freshest flavor. Avoid using preservatives to keep the remaining ingredients fresh for a longer time. The flavor is best when freshly made.

    FAQs

    Can I skip the sugar?

Yes! Sweeten it with simple syrup or honey. Just make sure the juice is at room temperature before adding any remaining ingredients so everything mixes smoothly.

Can I use frozen passion fruit pulp?

Absolutely! It works well and still gives you a strong, tropical taste—perfect for cocktails or desserts. Frozen pulp made from maracuya or chinola blends easily once thawed because the flesh turns soft and mixes into the liquid quickly.

Why do I need to strain the seeds?

The seeds of fresh passion fruits are hard and bitter. This makes straining the drink smoother. It also makes it the easiest way to enjoy. If you want to keep the fiber and vitamins in, you can skip straining. But it will change the texture.

Can I make this ahead of time for a party?

Yes! Mix everything except the ice. Add ice right before serving so you won't make it melt too quickly.

    • 8-10 ripe passion fruits yielding about 1 cup of pulp
    • 3 cups water
    • ¼–½ cup sugar adjust to taste
    • 1 tablespoon lime juice
    • Ice cubes for serving

    Instructions

    Prepare the Passion Fruits

    Blend the Pulp

    • Transfer the passion fruit pulp to a blender.
    • Add 2 cups of water and blend on low speed for a few seconds to loosen the seeds without breaking them.

    Strain the Juice

    • Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large pitcher.
    • Press the pulp with a spoon to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the seeds and remaining pulp.

    Sweeten and Flavor

    • Add the remaining 1 cup of water to the pitcher.
    • Stir in the sugar until fully dissolved, adjusting to taste.
    • Add lime juice and stir to combine.

    Chill and Serve

    • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until well chilled.
    • Serve over ice cubes and enjoy.
