What is Oreo Stuffed Cookies?
Oreo Stuffed Cookies are indulgent treats that combine a classic cookie with soft, chewy Chocolate Chip cookie dough. When baked, the dough forms a golden shell around the Oreo, creating a delicious contrast between the crispy center and the gooey exterior.
This dessert is popular for its rich flavor and playful twist on traditional cookies. The origin of the chocolate chip cookie recipe dates back to the early 2010s when they became a viral sensation through food bloggers and social media. While the exact creator is unknown, the trend likely started in the United States, where Oreos and chocolate chip cookies are both beloved treats.
Home bakers and bakeries embraced the concept, experimenting with different flavors and variations, making it the Oreo flavor cookies we know today, just like these delicious Oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies!
Variations
- Brownie – Rich, fudgy brownie dough encasing an Oreo for extra chocolate decadence
- Peanut Butter – Peanut butter cookie dough for a sweet and salty twist
- Double Stuf – Use Double Stuf Oreos for extra creaminess inside
- Sea Salt – A sprinkle of flaky sea salt enhances the sweet-salty balance
- Marshmallow – Add a marshmallow inside for a gooey surprise

Substitutions
- Butter or margarine – Coconut oil (solid), vegan butter (for a dairy-free version), or unsweetened applesauce (for a lower-fat option, though the texture may be softer)
- Brown sugar – Coconut sugar, date sugar, or a mix of white sugar with a teaspoon of molasses
- Self-rising flour – All-purpose flour + 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder + ½ teaspoon salt
- White sugar – Coconut sugar (for a natural alternative), maple syrup (reduce the liquid in the recipe slightly), or monk fruit sweetener (for a low-sugar option)

- Refrigerate or Freeze Dough: Make the dough a day ahead and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours or freeze it for up to 3 months. Thaw before baking.
