    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This easy brownie recipe is simple, inexpensive, and made with ingredients you likely already have on hand on your counter or in your pantry. There is no special equipment required - an electric mixer on low speed or even a spoon will do. And the swirl naturally develops as it bakes into beautiful stripes.

The cream cheese provides a creamy element to contrast the fudgy brownie bottom, and cream cheese also supplies calcium, which is good for your bones. Mix it gently with the eggs for better consistency, and you’ll get that perfect balance in every forkful.

It works for impromptu get-togethers, potlucks, or just when you have a hankering for brownies. A quick toothpick test will tell you when it’s done: look for moist crumbs, not raw batter.

    Ingredients

Listed below are all the ingredients you will need:

    8. Bake at 350°F for:

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Ingredient Swap
Swap the cream cheese with a plant-based cream cheese.
Use coconut sugar instead of white sugar for a deeper flavor.
    • Variation
Add chocolate chips to the brownie batter for extra richness.
A small pinch of salt can also help balance the sweetness, especially when working with white chocolate.
Add a touch of melted chocolate for a richer chocolate batter.
Sift in a little cocoa powder for a deeper flavor.
Fold in whipped egg whites beaten to stiff peaks for lighter texture tricks in the chocolate cake batter.
    • Mistake to Avoid
Avoid overmixing the cream cheese mixture because it can lose its silky texture. Work slowly, especially when combining the dry ingredients with the butter and flour.
    • Storage Tips
      • Make sure everything is at room temperature for smoother mixing.
      • These ingredients don’t stand up well to freezing, so enjoy within a few days.
      • Line your pan with parchment paper so you can lift the brownies easily onto a cooling rack after baking.
      • Store the cheesecake mixture and brownie mixture separately in the fridge. Then assemble when ready to bake. Good for 2–3 days.

    FAQs

How long should brownies cool before cutting?

Let your freshly baked Zebra Brownie Cake cool for at least30 minutes before taking the first slice.

Why do brownies taste better the next day?

It is because the chocolate gives a more evident flavor the next day, combined with all the other ingredients that give that more delicious flavor the next day after baking it.

Should I refrigerate my brownies after baking?

If you plan to serve it the next day or keep it for days, you can keep it in an airtight container and place it in the refrigerator.
